Skardu Desert

Skardu is a city which is located in the northern area of Pakistan. Pakistan is in Asia, in the south Asian subcontinent. Pakistan has a unique mix of physical features due to the presence of three huge mountain ranges there. These mountain ranges include the Hindukush range, the Karakorams and the Himalayas. Satpara Lake, Skardu, Pakistan

In skardu another lake is called Satpara Lake.  Satpara lake supplies water for the town of  Skardu, It is located at 2,636 meters or 8,650 feet. It is one of the most picturesque lakes in Pakistan.
The elevation of Satpara lake is 8650 feet above sea level. The lake is spread over an area of 2.5 squire kilometers. A story is attached with this lake by local people that there is gold mine in the bottom of this lake, that is why its water seems shining in the day time.

In 2002, the Government of Pakistan decided to build a dam on the Satpara Lake allocating Rs. 600 million ($10 million) to the Satpara Dam project, two years later in 2004. Progress on the project has, however, been slow.Satpara Lake is 6 miles (9.7 km) from Skardu. Satpara Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the country offering trout fishing, and row boating. This lake is also responsible for the drinking water that is supplied in Skardu.
